WHAT IS 'APOLOGETICS'?

Apologetics has to do with giving well reasoned answers for believing in Jesus Christ. The root meaning of the word is not to express regret - but to defend. A key New Testament verse is I Peter 3:15, "Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have." The word translated, answer, (or defense) is apologian in the Greek text. Apologetics has two main divisions: evidences and polemics. Evidences has to do with giving positive reasons for believing in Christianity, and polemics has to do with responding to criticisms of Christianity. Green Leaf Press will sometimes use the heading Evidences in place of Apologetics, because it appears to be a more recognizable word for many people.

Evolution: A Theory in Crisis Michael Denton (Adler & Adler)

Shattering the Myths of Darwinism Richard Milton (Park Street Press)
